When the Konami Logo screen appears, press Down 6 times, Up twice and then Down twice to activate the Very Hard mode.

To activate a near impossible mode of difficulty, press Left 4 times, Right 4 times, Left 7 times, Right once, and then Left once.

Make Your Very Own Demo
Start a new game and then play as plainly as possible for awhile. After you've played awhile, pause the game and press Up, Up, Up, Up, Up, Up, Up, Down, Left, Left, Left, Right. The word ''Pause'' should now reverse. When ''Pause'' reverses, press Reset and you can then watch a demo replay your game.

Level select
When the Konami screen appears, quickly press (Up then Down) 5 times, Left twice then Right 4 times. If its worked you'll hear a sound effect. Then, on the title screen hold A and press Start and a level select will appear.
Oddly, on the Europe version this code produces the sound effect but not the level select. On the US version there is no sound effect and no level select.
