Enter it on the title menu, a sound should confirm the cheat code is activated. Start a new game then select your character and difficulty. (tested and working on the Japanese and European versions of the game)

Unlimited V Points
Use Dante. Before you fight Davison, hit the bomb you have to use onto the wall. Use Dante's R2 taunt and it will hit the bomb in the air. Keep on tapping R2 to get V Points. You can get up to unlimited V Points by doing this.
