Okay, just to clear things up this is probably the best DS game to be released so far. Some of you may be scared away by it's weird controls (using the touch screen to aim), but trust me, it all works and feels good after about 10 minutes. To start this review up, the game looks amazing (for a handheld game). It pushes the DS's limits to the maximum (sometimes almost too much as there's some slowdown in areas.) and has amazing CG (computer generated) cutscenes that look just as good as an xbox or PS2 game's cutscenes. The graphics won't blow away those with an xbox 360 or a PSP, but then again, gameplay>graphics. The gameplay is also very cool using an aiming system that makes it feel more like halo or half-life than metriod. Some people were worried that there would be a bad single player mode. Well I assure you, you will have a good experience playing the single player mode. Basicly, it's a big hunt. You're out to get 6 crystals that grant unlimited power, but there are 6 other bounty hunters trying to get their mitts on them as well. But here's the cool part, when you meet up with them, you must fight them and can't leave the room. But if they beat you, they steal one of your crystals. If that happens (and if you're any good, it shouldn't.) then you have to fly to different planets and hunt them down to get yours back. The game lasts about 10-15 hours depending on if you scour the lands to get 100% completion at the end of the game. After you beat it, you can play through it again to get different endings (which are all actually pretty cool). But after that, you will still want some more...well that's where multiplayer comes in. Let me say that this is the best multiplayer experience on ANY console since halo 2. There are many different modes, 1000's of people play it every day so you won't have trouble finding a game, and you never match up with somebody too hard because there's a ranking system that's similar to halo 2. but if you've ever played a multiplayer game online, you know there are people who play online and when they're going to lose, they just exit the game. This game fixes it. If you exit a game in the middle, you get negative points to your grade and it will show how consistent your connection is when you play showing people if they want to play against you or not. Although there are several modes, most people just play battle (the regular deathmatch) all the time. And that's fine because that's the most fun. The only downer is that to play this online you need wi-fi, a local wifi hotspot (ask your local coffee shop or restraunt, most places have a hotspot now.) or a wireless compatible router (those of you who don't know what i'm talking about, do some research.). But the 10.00 on ebay to get a wireless router is a good investment. I've only been on multiplayer for a day or two and i've already clocked in 10 hours total. Although you will have trouble finding friends to play with on it(check for groups on myspace or message boards), once you get some you can talk to them via the mic on the DS. Also, the best thing about the internet is that on a cable connection, I had no slowdown or lag AT ALL. All in all, the multiplayer's great, single player's great, the whole game is great and it's an early nominee for game of the year on my list. The best DS game you're gonna get unitl the next zelda game comes out.10/10...incredible.
