Wow. That's about all I have to say after six months with Mario Kart:Double Dash. This game is probably the best reason to own a Gamecube. Sure, Metroid and Zelda offer up some great adventures, but they aren't really games that you and a bunch of friends can get together and have fun with. Double Dash has one of the GREATEST multiplayers to ever be conceived, only hurt by the lack of two things-online play and a course editor. The classic balloon battle is back along with two other modes, the awesome Bob-omb blast and the less awesome, but still fun King of the Hill game. The battle arena layouts are stellar, usually confining players to small areas to keep matches short and fun unlike the 64's monstrous multistaged fights. With the addition of another character to each kart, players can choose to team up in some great co-op racing where one person is in charge of driving and the other with weapon deployment. Basically, the multiplayer will provide you and your friends with hours upon hours of Mario fun. The single player is not quite as outstanding as the multiplayer, but it's fun nonetheless. The AI can be quite unfair on the higher difficulty settings, but the challenge is never insurmountable. The tracks are also well designed though a few are a too short. The graphics and sound are also well done with a framerate that never catches a hitch and some cool ska flavored Mario beats. Basically, $50 for this game is a steal. I can't think of any game since Goldeneye that I've had more fun with. Double Dash is truly a killer app, 10 out of 10.
