Handhelds have never been considered the platform of choice when playing RPGs...until now. This amazing game for the GBA does exactly want gamers want, create an epic story that you will want to follow to the end. Golden Sun has amazing graphics on par with PS1 epics and the cut scenes work well. The plot centers around a small group of adepts who naturally channel elemental magic to do their bidding. One unique feature of the magic system is that it can be used outside of battle to solve mysteries, in fact you will need to use Psynergy (as magic is called in GS) to complete the game at many points in the arcing storyline. You will have to seacrh for powerful being known as Djinn. These creatures bestow new abilties to their owners amd must be set in order to use their unique abilties in battle. If you have enough of them ready, you can summon a great being from one of the elements that are similar to summons on Final Fantasy, they cause large amounts of damage. You will have to search diligently in order to locate all the Djinn, which is a quest in its self. The only downside to this handheld RPG is that there are simply no extensive side quests in the game. In the case of Golden Sun however, you should overlook this minor over sight and play an epic game that you will surely see as an epic comparable to a console RPG.
