This game has the most realistic graphics I've seen on a console. Everything from the detail of the cars to the glare off the chrome from the street lights and sun. PGR2 has over 100 cars to unlock giving it an amazing replay value. The game is broken down into several difficulty levels which have medals awarded to those that complete the races under certain difficulty levels. Each completed objective gives you Kudos points. Gaining enough Kudos points gives you Tokens which you can use to purchase the more powerful cars. Several classes of cars are included in racing series that include standard rides to muscle machines. You'll have missions where you have to overtake other cars or (my favorite) cone challenges. The control for the game is tight, though I found myself spinning out of control once too often.
I do not have XBL but based on popular opinion, you may want to buy this game just to go online. The single player mode is more than enough to keep you busy though. One major complaint I have is the cheap enemy AI. Rival cars during street races seem to gang up on you and cheap shot you from behind to make you spin out of control. In one street mission I went from 1st to 4th because of a cheap shot from behind. To make matters worse, the computer is quite efficient at it whereas, though you can accomplish the feat yourself, you'll be lucky to pull it off once in awhile. Still, if you some patience and don't mind cheap AI, you should definitely give this game a try. For those that have XBL, play the single player until you have enough skills to make it big online.
