SWAT 4 is the second first person shooter in the SWAT series, and it does a good job of recreating the addictive and realistic game play that SWAT 3 brought to gamers several years ago.
Game play: SWAT 4 feels very much the same as SWAT 3, there have been some new toys added in SWAT 4 including pepper spray, pepper gun, Sting grenade, & Taser. The way in which you issue orders to your two teams has changed slightly since SWAT 3 now instead of cycling through the F keys, players can right click and scroll with their mouse wheel through various interact options, such as breach door, Stack up, Restrain suspect ect ect. Although in SWAT 3 you could view what your teammates see via the helmet camera, in SWAT 4you can now see what the SWAT snipers can see via the Helmet cameras, and on occasion you can take a shot for the sniper. Also the Teammate helmet cameras are useful when issuing orders, especially if you are attempting to enter a room or building from two points at the same time. Overall the campaign is challenging as you come up against more and more heavily armed and armored criminals, although the intelligence on some A.I. units is somewhat lack luster. There have been instances were criminals run at the SWAT team with out shooting, run past them and go hide in a corner… The thing that sort of suck is you technically aren't supposed to shoot the criminal until they point their weapons at you, otherwise you risk a deduction of points from your mission score… on higher difficulties this is an important concept to keep in mind, as you have to meet a certain score out of 100 to advance to the next mission. Graphics: SWAT 4 is a good looking game, but there a defiantly better looking games out on the market. There are some Issues ambient lighting, corners of rooms can be so dark that you cannot see anything without a flashlight turned on despite the fact that the rest of the room is well lit in comparison. Other than that the rest of the game looks very nice. There are also some limited Physics special effects, such a Soda bottles in connivance stores can be knocked over and roll around, but some other small lose items can not be disturbed. (9/10)
Sound FX: The game has respectable sound FX some of the voice acting can be over acted at points, but for the most part there is nothing wrong with the sound FX. (9/10)
Replay Value: SWAT 4 supports multiplayer featuring traditionally DM TDM, and Co-Op there is also VIP escort missions so a group of friend with the game could get a lot of use out of it. (10/10)
