Sacred is a bit better than the typical "hack-and-slash" RPG, falling in the genre of games established after Blizzard released Diablo. From the start, you can chose between six different character classes (The barbarian, the wooden elf, the dark elf, the battle mage, the vampiress, and the seraphim). Each class has its own set of magical and combat abilities; nonetheless, all characters follow the same exact plot - and a not very good one if I say so myself.
During the course of the game you travel though various towns and cities where you can take on mini-quests that award you gold, experience and weapons/equipment. Mini-quests can include killing monsters to retrieve people/belonging, assassination of political activists, escorting rich merchants and politicians, and of course the typical "revenge my family" type of quest.
Perhaps the greatest drawbacks of Sacred is its inability to provide an adequate story line and its occasional crashes. Overall though, Sacred has a very high replay value and has a tendancy to make someone waste away countless hours killing zombies, ogres and goblins as a means of leveling up and finding better equipment.
