This may be a 7 year old game, but in my opinion, is STILL tthe best game ever. No other RPG has kept me quite as captivated, or as emotionally attached than this one. The storyline is vast, and deep, beyond any other game I've seen. The Battle system is great, aside from the slightly flawed random battle system,which can be annoying, however the battles themselves are fantastic.
The magic system is refreshingly original, and works the best out of all the Final fantasies, combining seamlessly with the weapons.
The Limit breaks are both novel and extremely useful, and the death of a lead character was also extremely original. (yes, shining force was first if memory serves, but it was still novel)
Add to this, 100+ hours of gameplay, Graphics, still good even now, and the Coolest villain of all time, ranks this game at the top of my list, just above Skies of Arcadia, the much underrated Dreamcast game.
I have played RPGs since the Days of Spellcaster, Ultima 4, Dragon Crystal and Miracle Warriors on the Sega Master System, so I know what I am talking about.
FF7 is the Greatest!
