Guitar Hero sets the stage to be one of the most innovative music-based console games ever. Utilizing a custom Guitar controller, the makers of Guitar Hero created an surreal immersion into this Rock 'n Roll simulator.
During the beginning difficulty levels, you can learn the basics of playing this 'guitar simulator', but as you proceed into the more advanced levels, you can use more intricate techniques such as hammer-ons and tremolo with the whammy bar. The 'Star-Power' feature, which can be activated by flipping the guitar at a 90 degree angle, will save you through those difficult solos that occur in many of the songs.
The song choice for this game is an interesting mix of MTV and traditional guitar legend hits. Some are your typical rhythm/power cord songs, but others are pure guitar solos that last for several minutes. This game is wonderful for anyone, whether you really play guitar or not. (My mom even enjoys it) With the nearly unlimited combination of songs, difficulty levels, guitars, guitar skins, show locations, and characters, this game will keep you entertained for a very, very long time. I believe it's a wonderful buy and is definitely worth the $70.
