Metroid Prime 2 shouldn't dissapoint fans of Prime as thus far there has been little change in game dynamics, I have played about 8 hours into it. If you found the first one lacking or downright hated it I wouldn't recommend touching this one.
Oh there are different beam weapons and accesories, new monsters, new planet, etc. But it is for the most part the same experience as Prime 1 with more goodies and slightly better level layout. I like how their is limited ammo on the other beams, it gives incentive for variety (instead of always using the most powerful beam to dispatch your enemies).
The biggest difference is probably the multiplayer minigames. I wasn't terribly impressed with these, but to be honest after a hour or so I couldn't get anyone to play with me anymore so I am left with first impressions. They are not bad, but not very good either. Get this game for the single player.

Story 8.5/10
Samus is on a planet that is being torn between two worlds: Dark and Light. You can travel between these mirror worlds in your goal of course teaching those baddies from the dark world what for.
Gameplay 8.5/10
Same stuff as the first Prime if you've played the first Prime you can play this one out of the box. First person based view with auto-targeting. Some good puzzles inbetween the action, and a lot of gadgets and gizmo's to collect and utulize.
The multiplayer grows stale mainly because it seems to be a competition of who can get the quick strafe to work the most often.
Controls 8/10
Most of the problems with the controls come from the akwardness of having to use the shoulder buttons for targeting and scanning objects (and other things). Once one gets a handle on them though they are not a problem.
Quick strafing is still a pain in the butt (you have to be locked on and then hold down a direction and quickly press b twice).
Graphics 10/10
I think this is where Prime 2 has gotten better. It is not so much the quality of the graphics that have improved but the variety and layout of objects and such. The world doesn't feel nearly as much like a bunch of hallways and rooms with a particular texture.
Music 8.5/10
While I would never put the music from this game in my car stereo it fits the atmosphere very well and is unique. Very fitting with the explorative science fiction stytle. So it gets a happy gold sticker!
