Mario Kart: Double Dash is a game I initially regretted buying. The game is certainly fun. The controls are solid, the visuals are far from ground-breaking, but very accurate to the mario universe. I do applaud Nintendo's effort to add something new to the series by adding the dual-rider mechanic, and the new, character-specific special items, which add a new level to the gamneplay. Dispite all this, however, the one player experience was very short, and not very satisfying, and since that's basically all I played, i was a bit disappointed.
Then my friends started to pick it up, and the game showed its true colours. It's a fast, frantic, monstrously fun experience in multiplayer. A 4-player Bob-omb Battle is an multiplayer experience that is bested only by Super Smash Bros., in my opinion. Unfortunately, there aren't many multiplayer levels, and the existing levels seem less fun than the maps from Mario kart 64, but it's still a good time for all.
