24 The Game is exactly what the title would believe you to think the guys over at FOX licensed the 24 series to 2K games to turn the hit TV show into a game. The results are overall pretty good, but some frustrating moments due to controls and some gameplay problems that should just not be in here.
The story of this game takes place between Seasons 2 and 3. The story just happens to take place on the day that Kim Bauer and Adam start working at CTU along with the first time that Chloe and Chase come into contact with CTU Los Angeles, so there is lots of story to fill in. That being said the story in this game is not as in depth as that of the TV show which makes sense, since there are some episodes that are pretty much if not all dialogue and people driving from place to place. This being said, the game is not 24 hours long, which is kind of a letdown. The game can be beaten in a day of non-stop gaming
The game lets you play as literally everyone at CTU. Mainly though you will be playing as Jack Bauer, Tony Alameda, and Chase Edmonds. At time though you will play as Michelle Dessler, Kim Bauer, and other people at CTU like technicians. The game is basically shooting, driving, and solving puzzles. Let's just say that the game is 2 for 3, with fun shooting missions and easily accessible puzzles. Driving is not very much fun however as the vehicles are not very fast and the controls are a little bit off.
The game has a very unique targeting system, which can take a while to get used to, but once you get used to it it's a piece of cake.
The sound in this game is pretty good as well. All the music that you would expect from the show and bullets sound great. The voice-overs are done especially well as everyone and I mean everyone from the show does some voice-over work in this game, so you really feel like you are in control of the TV show and as a 24 fan that is a great feeling.
24 The Game is a great experience if you are a fan of the show and are looking for a fix between seasons than this is definitely the way to go. The game is a little short at times and the driving missions are a letdown, but this game is definitely worth finishing. I would base a purchase on how much gaming you plan on doing. If you are planning on some moderate gaming than I definitely advise a purchase, but if you are planning on going on a gaming binge over a long weekend, than rent this one.
