Medal of Honor Heroes basically answers the prayers of every first person shooter fan that has a PSP or a handheld for that matter. Medal of Honor Heroes brings the Medal of Honor series to the PSP and does a great job doing it. Finally there is a decent first person shooter that isn't a remake or a rehash of old PC shooters.
While Medal of Honor Heroes may have some shortcomings the game is overall one of the best games that I have played on the PSP so far and might be the best. Even though the single player is on the short side (about 2-3 hours on the easiest difficulty) there is replay value galore.
The game's single player is a blast so there is a very good chance that you will in fact want to play through this game again after you beat it so you can try to unlock all of the multiplayer costumes. The games single player takes you through the eyes of three previous Medal of Honor game's heroes and you can expand on their story with completely brand new levels in Italy, Belgium, and Holland. I do wish that this game would have thrown in some Pacific missions as well because that would have not only been a cool break from Nazi killing but would have made the game a little bit longer. The overall level layout is much like European Assault only the secondary objectives are pretty simple and there is no teammate control at all.
The multiplayer is a blast. This is by far the most fun that I have ever had with multiplayer on the PSP hands down! The game is almost lag free every time that I played and there are always people playing. If you are not in an area where you can get wi-fi like in a car you can play the skirmish mode. In skirmish mode you can get it on with up to sixteen AI bots on every single multiplayer level. This is nice because then you can get some practice in before you go online. The only problem with this mode is that there are no different difficulty levels and you can only play deathmatch. This is disappointing because you cannot learn all the different multiplayer modes available over Infrastructure.
Now I know what you are thinking, the controls probably suck. The controls in fact do not suck. They do take a while to get used to but after you get used to them there is no problem with them at all.
Graphically speaking the game could look a little better, but it does look very good. When there are lots of enemies on screen there is rarely ever any slowdown. There could have been more character models but other than that this game looks very good.
Medal of Honor Heroes is a must have if you own a PSP. The game is fast paced shooter fun and should not be missed especially if you love shooters. This game is a must buy just for the multiplayer but you would be a fool to not play the engrossing single player even if it may be on the short side. I give Medal of Honor Heroes for the PSP a 9.5/10. Have fun with this one.
