A top-notch RPG for the GBA that would be a great addition to any collection
This is undoubtedly one of the greatest RPGs for the Gameboy Advance and additionally one of the greatest games all around. It's very reminiscent of old SNES RPGS and has all the important aspects of a great game but in portable form.
The world is large and the storyline is great and extensive enough to create a longlasting epic. You play as a boy named Isaac who eventually teams up with some other kids, Ivan, Mia, and Garet. After a freak weather accident in town and a trip to Sol Sanctum, a mysterious temple on the mountain, you set forth on a journey to essentially stop a group of evildoers causing chaos and piece the story back together.
The gameplay is great with a battle style that requires more thought and strategy than many other games where you just repeatedly attack. There are magical creatures called Djinn that you can summon, have their powers used, or just boost your abilities. The characters also have a form of magic called psynergy that allows the characters to use many different magical attacks in and out of battle. Abilities like Freeze are used continuously throughout the game to get through dungeons by freezes puddles of water into pillars of ice.
The graphics are amazing for a GBA with great 2D effects as well as 3D effects showing up constantly. Each attack and creature is brilliantly done to put on a show of special effects. The map is even done well.
The music is good and never gets tiring. While I wasn't enthralled by it as I'm usually not with GBA games, I do listen to it and find it to be better than most other games for the Gameboy Advance.
The Replay value is high. I can easily picture myself playing this game a couple times in the future and not getting tired of it. With quite a bit of lasting appeal and a unique plot and gameplay, this game is one that should be played by all owners of a GBA, especially RPG fans.
