I played Red and Blue when it was out, but as for all the games that followed, I had better things to do, Except for this good ol' game.
I really do believe the idea of recreating the old pokemon games and creating this shiny piece of work that brought back old memories is a good one. I liked this game, which is pretty surprising seeing that I dislike almost all RPG's.
The new added features are basically ones taken from the "Ruby" and "Sapphire" versions. You can run...and there is very nice color every where. Also, I have no idea if you had this option in any other pokemon game, you can pick your gender, woop. The..."creatures" have nice pics and if you have played Red or Blue you will be familure with the map for the most part. There are the basic 150 pokemon...but you eventually come to a twist.
The game eventually offers an option to collect some of the pokemon that were included in later pokemon games. I have said enough, but I will just personally say I just wanted the basic game without any options like that. But I'm sure many others will enjoy it.
SO, in a nutshell, I believe Nintendo took one great step in redoing Red/Blue and making Leaf Green (and Fire Red, if you are interested in Leaf Green you should also check that out). The graphics aren't anything real great but that is never what Pokemon for Gameboy ever shot for, so your not looking for that. Gameplay is about typical flash battle RPG. If you like pokemon or are just looking for a good game for your GBA or SP than I recommend this game. 4/5 stars ****
