It's undeniable that GTA 3 has had a considerable inpact on the gaming community. This game explodes into the market and all of the sudden is re-defining what we find acceptable in mainstream games.
Many games that attemt to do "something unique and original" often offer a hack copycat job of things that worked well in other games and everyone leaves dissapointed. Not only was GTA 3 unique and original, but in its attempt to muster up something completely new, it did it perfectly, and for this I applaud RockStar for a job well done.
Unfortunately, dispite all of its upsides, I beleive GTA is forgetting some things that most games strive to deliver and that is (as strange as it sounds) depth. GTA 3 is full of variaty in a sense that there are so many things that you are able to do, but in this the game is almost too free. Theres not much I can't do. Driving over a civilian is only fun so many times. Tasks that were once a rush to go through (such as being chased by the cops) now become tedious and mundane. Variety in this sense really only comes in the missions, which thankfully there were alot of (and they are very well done I might add). And so I honestly didn't find much replay value beyond that. Bottom line however is that GTA 3 is a thrill ride of interactivity that needs to be at least experienced.
