Samus is here for her debut to the GBA in Metroid Fusion. In this side scrolling shooter game, you play as Samus, a bounty hunter sent to examine an explosion in the space station SSR388. If only it was that simple. The X parasites, parasites that mimic their prey after killing it, have escaped from their imprisonment. Prior to this event an X had attacked her, but thanks to medical scientists a vaccine was found and Samus was spared. But the X parasite was able to mimic Samus at full power before it died. Now Samus must stop her clone and the X parasites from taking over the universe.
As you progress through the game and defeat bosses, Samus regains her latent abilities, or upgrades. These include missiles to the always-nifty pierce beam that allows you to shoot through multiple enemies. All the while you are being led by a super computer with a personality, giving this game most of its storyline. There are a couple twists thrown in, and the ending is good to say the least.
This is a fun game that rewards you for playing and has a storyline that makes you want to keep playing. I recommend the game to anybody with a GBA. So here is my final verdict for Metroid Fusion:
