Mercenaries made by Lucasarts and Pandemic has to be one of the best games I have ever played.  This game is extermly well done.  The graphics are top-notch using a well done bloom effect.  But the graphics aren't what gets me.  Its the fact that you can really blow up anything any building is destructable anything is usable.  The whole implementation of it is increadible.
Its like when I was a kid, and I'm sure others did this too, you'd play war.  Haven't buildings collapse and stuff falling.  This game takes playing war to the next step.  The atmosphier of thsi game is so warlike and realistic, planes flying over head, random battles popping up all over the place.
The premise of the game is you are a mercenary after the North Korean deck of 52, modeled after the Iraqi deck of 52.  But also you do missions for the various factions trying to gain footholds in the war.  The game is actually very politicaly spohisticated with the factions movements and goals realistic to modern politics.
You can play three different mercenaires each having their own charateristics and personalities.  But nothign pulled me in more than the sheer vastness of the game, its realistic physics, and destructive capability.  I mean I fuel-air bombed a city block just to see it destroyed.  Its just so well done, I blew up a copter and i fell on some North Korean soldiers killing them, and smashing a crate which flew and smacked another one in the head killing him.
Anyone who loves war and destruction, or politics, or just loves games.  This is a must have for anyone.  There is no blood, since its a lucasarts game and Teen.
