First let me start off by saying that I am a diehard fan of the original, so my review may, in some peoples eyes, be viewed as biast, let me say that it's not, and that it's my own personal opinion.
The original Soul calibur debuted as a Dreamcast launch title, and is still widely considered the best Dreamcast game ever, and now we have a sequel. was it worth the wait? Well, the best way to describe Soul Calibur 2 would be as an expansion pack of sorts, and is just as good as the original, but is that enough for fans of the original?
If some new characters, songs, and updated graphics is enough for you, then yes, this is everything you could have hoped for. I did have some problems though, including the very dissapointing Weapon master mode, which is not very deep, and somewhat boring. There is alot of unlockables, but in a fighting game, that's expected. So let me just say the games replay value as a single player title will dissapoint some.
The graphics are spectacular. The stages are beautiful, the characters look great, and the animation looks amazing. After saying that, I must admit though that it didn't amze me as much the first one did, so people may also be dissapointed in those respects. Overall though, the graphics are wonderful!
To put it short, Soul Calibur 2 has the best gameplay in any fighting game ever made. As a multiplayer title, the game is the greatest, single player leaves much to be desired, so you have been warned!
