As a start I'd like to set one thing straight. I have it under 'owned & finished' but in reality I've only touched the tip of the endless potental that is Disgaea: Hour Of Darkness. It would take months, or even years to max this game out. With a max level of 9999 and weapon level of 100 (Not to mention Over 150 character classes and monsters and weapon mastery of more then 30 for each weapon), this game is one of the hardest games ever to max out!

With that cleared up I'm ready to review.

Disgaea is a hard game to find and took me a couple months to track down. So one should beware of this at the start.
It plays like Final Fantasy: Tatics, or at least on the surface. It uses a simular map and basic control style and stops there. But in Disgaea the characters move around more freely. While you are limited to overall distance like Final Fantasy: Tatics in that one can only move a set number of spaces. It is quite possable to have your characters move in to help an ally with a combo then move back to their starting spot. Then move to anouther ally and help out, move back, and then attack an enemy all in one turn.
It adds to the gameplay by making you think of how to max out the damage in one turn. I found myself taking on stronger enimies by having my characters work together with combos something that Final Fantasy: Tatics didn't do.

Disgaea's story is great and has multi endings. Also the new game plus feature allows you to start up on the run as you keep all levels, weapons. Only storyline characters are not avalible and need to be won again. The characters are humorous to say the least. And some are cute like Flonne. So although not as intense as some Final Fantasy storys, Disgaea's story will keep you entertained while you try to max out the game.

The sound in Disgaea isn't the best and has it's flaws, but overall it wasn't anoying by any means. The voice acting is good and gives the character's more life then just text. I love Etna's voice for it's additude.

Graphics are not anything to get worked up about. They are old school compared to Final Fantasy X or X-2. But each character is uniquely animated. The graphics almost seem fitting for this kind of game.

But like I said in the begining this game is almost impossible to max out. But if you like leveling up characters, weapons and such then this game is for you. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who dosen't like Tatical RPG's or leveling up. Although it's story is good enough to play it.

Graphics: 7.0
Sound: 8.0
Gameplay: 9.8
Story: 9.8
Presentation: 9.5
Tilt: 10.0

Overall: 9.0/10.0
