The game that revolutionized first person shooters is here. 1999 was the year that one of that Half Life was released and to this day some games still fall below the bar it has set. Wolfenstien, Doom, and Quake were all great FPS, but the genre lacked something at the time and only when Half Life was released did people know what it was. Combined with a brilliant and original story, the game play, graphics, sound effects, it was all there which made it to be one of the most breath taking experiences you will ever find in a computer game.
You are Gordon Freeman, a scientist who works in the Black Mesa Facility who was doing one of his routine tests, when unexpectedly things turn chaotic and aliens from another dimension begin to run wild in the facility. The aliens begin killing everyone, and you are left to fend for yourself. As you try to make your wat to the surface and survive this alien infested place, you run into some marines who look like they have come to help… or have they?
The music was the only real downside, in a way the game didn't even need music because you felt more into the game without it and that's why I didn't take that into account. Half Life's enemy AI is what makes this game so fun and rewarding to play over and over; they are intelligent, brutal and will make you wish you were never a scientist if you are not careful. Along with brilliant game design, good voice acting, great effects and one hell of a long joy ride, Half Life will always be held in the highest regard.
With over 50 "game of the year" awards this is a must have…. What are you waiting for?
