I've completed the game and am pretty disappointed. It runs perfectly on my machine but my gripe is with the game designers. Why didn't they just make a Doom 3 movie instead of having us waste $60.00 on this "game"?
Again, another company sells out to the ideal that graphics are the be all, end all of games now. They destroyed/ignored the game mechanics in order to have more graphic "realism". How real is it to have one marine with weapons that don't exist run around and kill every demon that doesn't exist? It's very contradictory. The original doom and doom 2 far outstrip this worthless, redundant piece of crap by not trying to make it "realistic", but fun. They've almost completely plagarized the original Half-Life, which, by the way, is a better game.
It's very pretty, but that's all it's got going for it. It's boring, because they spent wwwaaayyy to much time and expense on graphics. The originals were much more fun in both single player and multiplayer. More action. This game falls utterly short of the expectations that true fans wanted to see. I'll put it on the shelf with the other overpriced movie games that sit collecting dust that sucked, such as UT2K3, UT2K4, Unreal 2 and Warcraft 3.
This game could've been the greatest game ever if they would've used the original Unreal Tournament engine. Instead, it will quickly take it's place in the very center of mediocrity and be forgotten.
I stand by a previous statement of mine: The original Unreal Tournament and Serious Sam 1 & 2 are the only games that have combined graphics and functionality successfully. They're both as fun as all hell and you don't need to spend upwards of 4-5 hundred dollars on just a video card alone, not to mention the rest of the PC.
I believe that game companies have some sort of understanding or repoire with PC manufacturers to collectively bilk consumers of their hard earned cash by making these graphically intense games with no balls to them. *sighs*
