Fable is a game of many different faces, literally. Players will be surprised to find a very simple concept, wrapped around a story that the player creates as they play, all put together in a very simple, yet new innovative way that will impact the gaming world. Fable will leave a mark on the gaming world, maybe not right away, but it will leave its mark.
Fable is a game that lets the player create the story as they play. Good and evil all play a role as you take quests, talk with characters, interact with the towns, buy and sell goods, and kill other creatures and even other people.
Fable will not be a game that everyone will like, this is easy to see if you read any forums currently as many people are on both sides of the fence with Fable as either great or poor.
You will like Fable if:
#1 You loved the older RPG games from the early years of video games where imagination was the key to the experience.
#2 You find enjoyment out of interacting with everything in the game around you, not just the main base story line, but everything else like family, friends, trading, owning homes, business, character development, and more.
You will not like Fable if:
#1 All you care about is beating the game. Fable is not about rushing through to beat it, it will play very short if you only want to beat the main story quests, not what Fable is about.
#2 You don't like being a part of the story, putting yourself into the game, imagination is not your thing.
Overall I would rate this game as an A
Graphics are wonderful but not without their areas that could be improved. I rate it at B
Sound is amazing. Backround noises are clearly heard, and 5.1 surround is a very natural feeling. The music is scored very well and adds feeling and emotion to the game experience. I rate it at A+
Controls are wonderful feeling and even though the targeting system takes a little to get used to and can be tricky in some spots, it does not hurt your experience at all and with practice it feels very comfortable. I rate it at B.
Replay value is high, very high. Fable is all about the players individual story and not one will be the same as the last. Ya the main quests are basically the same, but its how you play the game that changes. Trying good and then evil or both at once really changes the experience every time I played. I rate it at A+.
Fable as a whole has done a lot right as far as a good RPG today. It brings me back to the older RPGs like Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy on the older 8 bit systems. There were no high end graphic, not fighting animation to see, not major thrills, just a player, a basic story line to play through, and your imagination. It all combines to create a gaming experience that many games today have a hard time doing at all.
I recommend Fable to anyone and everyone. You may not think much of it now or maybe you do, but I do feel that Fable will be a game that we will one day look back on and see as a true inovation for its time, that never forgot where it's roots were, and brought the past and future together in a truely great gaming experience not to be forgotten.
