I really tried to like this game, but I was uterly frustrated by the fighting system and some ridiculous design choices. The graphics are extremely well done and uses every aspect of the PS2. However saying that this game is a 3d game, is a trick of the mind. The world is largely 2D pathways that you follow from left to right, or vice versa. The fighting is in a 3D space. There goes the first bad decision. Why make such a beautiful sceneries when you can only enjoy it in a static way. If i want to play an animated framed adventure, i will go buy Mist. Yet the creator put the fighting in 3D. In my views the world should have been 3D and the fighting in 2D. That does lead to the worst part of the game...the gameplay. The fighting is annoying and cumbersome like nothing I have experience to date. It is overlay complex, the AI gets harder way to soon, you don't get a sens of control and the interface is atrocious. The teleportation aspect is somewhat fun, but in reality it's a way to cheat the game in not fighting. And you find very soon that you should fight all the ennemies because the AI will get you (Not sure it should be called AI). In terms of fighting and game design, I view this game has a complete failure. The story is very good, the graphics are superb, but beyond that point is a game that bring frustration to a new level. Graphics: 10/10; sounds: 8/10; gameplay: 3/10; overall: 5/10
