After all I've read, I was a bit disappointed after finishing the game in about 14 hours!  Once you beat the bad guy, it's game over and the credits roll...
It's a fun game to play but I found it too linear; in that aspect, it feels like games like Dark Alliance.  The developers should have favored an "open" game system, like Morrowind, to give Fable real depth.
It's also way too easy for my taste, even though I'm no extreme gamer.  Once you have enough food and potions, you are unbeatable!  Since there's no weight restriction, you can carry anything and beat the game without a sweat...  or almost!
Fable has several inventive features that make it an interesting project; but who wants to pay $50 for a project? The level-up/aging process (including the way you acquire the points) is the real treat in Fable, along with the great music.  The magic controls are very interesting to use and the zoom feature for the bow makes it a breeze to take targets out from far away.  It is also neat to change looks with "barber" and tattoo cards.  Making money in trades, buying houses, getting married...  don't make enough of an impact in the game itself to make a difference.
Note that the frame rate slows down often (I was expecting a flawless game!), with ugly camera angles at times, and the load times remind me of Morrowind; need a coffee!!!
Overall, Fable is a good game, with some very cool features, but it's not worth $50.  I feel the game has not reached its full potential and we should wait for the next chapter to enjoy a true "next generation" game.
