Asphalt isn't whatI expected. I was hoping for a Gran Turisimo style effect (a bit like Advance GT for the GBA). What I got was something that resembled an intelligent version of Cruising USA.
We've got all the features of the GT series, so lots of cars to trade and buy, spare parts and mods you gain by winning races in the "Evolution" series (3 races, mini league with 7 other similar cars), and an arcade mode.
The handling is arcadey, we've a nitro boost to get you going, a brake key which you never touch to brake - just to jet yourself into a Power Slide for the hairpins, and a horn. Which is... a bit underwhelming.
It's a good laugh, you don't need a huge amount of concentration, just a good memory to remember the layout of the courses. An on screen overhead map would help immensly, but then I guess the replay value woould have suffered.
Should you get it? Yes. Should it be the first thing you get in the shops? No. A solid title from Nokia and Gameloft, and no more.
