Ace Combat 05: The Unsung War is the latest installment of the popular Air/Ace Combat series. You play as Blaze, a member of the Sand Island squadron. As Blaze, you pilot over 50 licensed fighter planes.
The graphics in this game are vastly improved over Ace Combat 04, which were remarkable by themselves. The jets fly smoothly through the air in over 25 different locations.
Anther great improvement is the addition of FMV's. The last installment just had still shots of anime characters. The character are beautifully rendered, and move with the grace of live action.
A few negatives are that there is no multiplayer whatsoever. Not even split-screen head-to-head. This is disappointing considering this is a game where you command a squadron of fighter. Also, in a few parts, the voice-over is atrocious.
All in all, this is a wonderful game. The graphics are wonderful, the gameplay is fun, and the number of jets makes this game replayable for months. But the lack of multiplayer dargs it down to a 4 out of 5.
