Whilst playing this game I remember thinking "How did they get so much into such a tiny cartridge?". This is a large game - and not just in the geographical sense. The characters are full of life and you feel for them as they strike out on their quest for enlightenment.
Gameplay-wise this game is from the Final Fantasy school of RPG-ing, and that's no bad thing! You visit towns dotted around a world map (random battles ahoy!) and interact with the townsfolk to gather items and information to further your quest. Of course, the bad guys are never far behind so the impetus to keep moving is great. There are many side missions should you choose to accept them not least of which is the challenge to collect as meny Djinn as possible - Pokemon style. You then train them and nurture them and they rapidly become powerful allies. You gotta catch 'em all!
It's a powerful and involving game which will keep you constantly engaged until that final battle is over......or is it...?
A sequel to this game arrived last year in the form of "The Lost Age". You can carry your saved game over to the next installment.
