There are great things about this game but where is the innovation that the Gamecube needs. The Cube has a network adaptor yet no one has sought to use the great LAN possibilites of the system. So the great multiplayer of Echoes is limited to 4-player split-screen. Many complain about the lock-on feature but it is the only way that you are able to even hit the other player and super upgrades are a blast to play with like the Deathball and Super Rockets. There needs to be some more multiplayer levels if the Metroid series wants to compete with Halo but the adventure is the ultimate fun but not as great as the first game. Staying in protective bubbles was a cool idea but the game becomes a whole lot more fun once you are fully protected. If the Gamecube had the DS technology, Metroid Prime 2 could have been a perfect game but the repetitive backtracking and sameness of the Metroid series limits the greatness this series should be. Maybe the next console will get the job done the right way on the first try. Still great gameplay but could use some tweaking with multiplayer and some different single player innovations. 9.5/10
