Eternal Darkness is a Gamecube exclusive survival horror game of epic proportions. Camera angles are pre-rendered but much more effective than the Resident Evil series has always been. Eternal Darkness has a very creepy feel to it. An Edgar Allen Poe verse is always recited before you begin your game. You must assume the role of a young woman trying to discover why her Grandfather was murdered. Cinematics are well done and can tend to be extremely creepy. There is an insanity meter in the game that will make you start to see things happen. A unique spell casting system is used to do a variety of things including recovering yourself, enchanting your weapons, and solving puzzles. Puzzles can tend to be difficult at times and take a lot of time to complete. There is a book with many chapters in it and you can live through each chapter that takes place in different places during different time periods. The whole concept is filled with originality and is refreshing to the genre. This one may be considered as an absolute must have for any survival horror fan and an excellent reason for anyone to own a Gamecube. 5/5
