In my opinion Athens 2004 is a great game.
There is a wide variety of modes and very good graphics. Another very good thing about the game is that it is not just about button bashing. Unlike Track and Field the best button basher doesn't always win. Winning at Athens 2004 requires good judgement, timing, plenty of reactions, strategic skills and most of all endurance.
Compared to Track and Field, there is absolutely no contest. Athens 2004 is a much better game. It has so much more to offer and not just in modes and graphics. Athens 2004 has every event you can think of. These include: 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1500 metres; Hurdles; Long, Triple and High Jump; Pole Vault; Javelin and Discus throws, Shot Put; 100 metre Breaststroke, Freestyle, Backstroke and Butterfly swimming events; men and women Floor Exercises; Rings; Vault; Balance Beam; Horse Jumping; Weightlifting; Archery and Shooting. In total, 26 different events.
As you can see, it is extremely difficult to criticise this game though I have managed to find one flaw. The computer is a little too easy. Though, this small problem can be avoided with the purchase of a dance mat thus making the game slightly harder.
With such good game play, graphics and a wide variety of events it's no wander that I give this game a 9/10.
