To me, Final Fantasy VII is the best game to be released on the PlayStation. Up to that point, I had never seen a game so huge.
You begin the game as Cloud, a former member of Avalanche, a group of soldiers who will protect the earth form the group called Soldier, no matter what. You are travelling with Barrett (a cocky foul-mouthed rough guy), and two others as your goal is to destroy a nuclear-type power plant to keep the higher-ups from keeping the world for themselves, and giving hope to the little guy.
Along the way, you will meet up with many different allies, as well as match up against many different enemies, as you try to right the wrongs in the world and save it from the mighty Sephiroth, a mysterious man with a checkered past. You will visit numerous towns, preform several sidequests, unravel several twists, and learn more and more about Cloud.
The graphics are regualr PS1 standard, typical for when it was released in early 1997. Battles look even better, but can still be kind of choppy. Sound is awesome, and I even own the soundtrack, which I would recommend to any fan of this game. The best part, is that the game doesn't feel too linear. You can explore, build up your levels, and gain precious items by stealing them from your enemies.
This game is a must own for any RPG fan. Even non-RPG fans like myself (I can usually get only into Mario RPG) will even love this game. It isn't overly complicated. The only knock on this game is it's replay value. The first 5 hours get repetitive upon repeating, but it clears up afterward. 10/10
