Weather you like skateboarding or not, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is fun!
I am not that big into skateboarding, buuut I played THPS on a playstation underground subscription CD back in the day and then again on a pizza hut demo disc and I just had to have the game. I found it so amusing to go into 2 minute runs trying to best your latest score or just to explore or goof around.
There are several objects other than busting moves for points in THPS. Each level has goals to complete or "tapes" to get. For example there are certain scores you must reach for each level, you must also collect the letters S-K-A-T-E scattered throughout the level, obtaining the "Secret Tape" for the level and several other goals which must be completed in each level. There are also skating competitions where you earn a bronze, silver, or gold based on your performance.
As you progress through the levels your skater's stats get better and you get new decks to skate with.
Each level is fun to explore and find different ways to earn massive points and find combos. The levels are sufficiently detailed for its time and the graphics are their caliber for its time as well.
The sound consists of the sound effetcs of skateboarding like people bailing and groaning with pain and also puck rock tracks which should leave each player with at least one track they like.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is incredibly fun and addicting. Even if you are not a skateboarding fan, I would recommend trying this just for the heck of it. I can almost guarantee you'll have fun.
