After a six year wait from the original Half-Life comes it's sequel... some elements were better than the original while others were not so.
The game starts out wonderfully, already capturing me in the environment, just like the original did, but more so in this one. The graphics are again revolutionary to the genre, despite what some people say about Doom 3, which is played indoors 99.9% of the time.
The story slowed down a bit in the middle, some missions were a bit long at times, and the others fit perfectly.
This game differs from the first game in that the aliens are almost extinct from this one, but given the storyline from both HL1 and HL2 it seems suiting.
When the game comes to the end the seqeunceing is brilliant peak the climax at the very end... BUT the ending is VERY open-ended are hints that this is the 2nd of a very long computer gaming series. Some say it's the middle chapter, I think it might be second of 5 or 6 planned games. Play it and make your own assumption.
When it comes down to the end the graphics are nearly perfect with facial expressions and environment. The sound is also perfect, with the combine soldiers running you can hear their bullets 'klang'. The gameplay was near perfect where you could lead your own troops into battle.
The flaws however were co-op AI when it was just you and Alyx, such that she took her own initative over her safety which was unrealistic. The other minor issues were the lack of a good storyline like the first of the series, the ending is hardly one at that...
Breakdown:
Gameplay: 35/35 (perfectly done)
AI: 18/20 (co-op AI was a little weak)
Graphics: 25/25 (revolutionary)
Sound: 10/10 (always consistent)
Intangables: 7/10 (weak ending)
Final Thought: An unbelievable game with a few minor blemishes. I felt like I was Gordon Freeman right there during the game. Almost as good as the original. 95%
