I finished this game rather quickly and was quite disappointed with it when I was finished. I spent a lot of time to complete everything I could, but when the game was finished, I had no reaction whatsoever...The storyline went almost nowhere in this game and the few attempted twists only left me shruging. Why? I didn't care for it; it was unable to cause me to want to care. I also found the script to be really skimpy and corny in a way. In addition, the characters are an important part of the game because, obviously, you control them. The characters in this game have a varied set of attributes and personalities, but they failed to make an impression on me. I didn't like them, hate them, feel for them, or anything! So when things happened to the characters, I didn't care. Another thing that really ruined it for me was the controls. I eventually got used to them, but they were really hard to use and they hurt my thumbs! It's funny, though, because throughout the game, I kept comparing it to Final Fantasy X. I know they're two very different games, but I just couldn't stop myself from pointing out the differences between the two the the things ffx did better...
(^_~)Now, I'm not going to just point out the faults of the game because that would be pretty pointless. Though there were disappointing parts, I did appreciate the fact that you got to control different characters and trade with them. The soul absorbing was also pretty neat! And the CG movies were awesome ^_^ I also thought the composer did a great job with the music. It really captured the essence of the events and places. The fighting was also quite fun- especially when you get to control Kotaro.
Overall, I would give this game a 5/10. It didn't really get to me, and I wasn't looking forward to the next sequel...Maybe if the Onimusha series was the first I played on ps2, I would appreciate it better, but after playing other games, this just doens't really compare at all
