MGS3: SE is getting my vote for game of the year. It's almost scary the little attention this game is getting due to the deservingly hyped Halo 2. Shoot back to 2001 and the table's are reversed; MGS2 is the big gun and Halo the quiet underdog. Now onto the game itself..
First and foremost, Hideo Kojima is an absolute genius, I don't think you can stress this enough. This game examplifies great entertainment and further blurs the line between cinema and videogames. This game delves deeper into one of the more famous yet little known characters of the past decade. The storyline ties itself perfectly to it's generation. Alot of questions are answered and alot of questions are made. What else could you want and expect from Hideo? The graphics are surprisingly good for the PS2. The score is once again the strongpoint for this game. Does anyone else get tired of hearding the Metal Gear theme in different variants? Didn't think so. Bottomline; this game edges out Ninja Gaiden for game of the year so far. We'll see how it holds up vs the year's only other major title ("KOTOR2").
