Def Jam Fight For N.Y. is the best 3D Fighting game of all time. The sequel to the wrestling smash hit Def Jam Vendetta, this game has evolved a LOT. Instead of throwing opponents into ropes, you can throw them into the crowd or into a wall. The new Double Team, Environmental Grapples, and KO Moves make this game very fun to play, and with 69 characters + the story mode where you create your own, you can't go wrong. It even contains the benefit of throwing a rapper you hate in front of a subway train, without being taken to prison.
Gone are the Survival Mode, DMX, Keith Murray, most of DJV's original characters, Rear Grapples, Rear Blazin' Moves, and very unfortunately, Proof, but the 5 fighting styles and how those styles and/or the stats are different for each character kinda make up for that. With characters like Flava Flav (A pure kung-fu fighter and one half of Public Enemy), Bo (Who looks and fights like he was "this close" to getting a role in a Mortal Kombat game), Baxter (an old school playa with Iceberg's Rear Blazin' Move from DJV as his special), Crazy Legs (A breakdancer who actually uses breakdancing as a fighting style), the return of Dan G (The MC with t3h l33t br34kd4nc1ng sk1llz and skills in the Capoeira style), Crow (Played by tha S-N-double O-P D-O-double G), both members of Mobb Deep (I guess they CAN back up their arrogance after all) and even Bless (Reppin' Platinumberg as usual), this game is teh r0x0rs.
Even though they took a lot of music tracks out of the GC version, it still rules. I know anybody who unlocks everything and then plays the battle mode constantly, develops a favorite character. It's easy to get hooked on. I still think it would be better had it provided a Survival mode, but hey. Go tell that to EA if they make another game in the series. Bottom line, this game has earned my respect.
