Wind Waker is just one of a select few of those titles that's made out to be a must-have for the Cube. But is it? If I'm being totally honest, it's hard to say. Having eagerly awaited the title, I found myself expecting lots from it - afterall it is Zelda. I was slightly disappointed with Wind Waker though, but I'd still highly recommend the title. Graphics - Absolutely brilliant. If anyone's been following this title since before it was unveiled to the public, then you'll know that people were expecting a 'realistic' Zelda, similar in style to that of the previous two instalments. However, Cel-Shaded is what we got, and it does look fantastic, and suits this instalment in the Zelda series well. It's hard to desribe the graphics when they're in motion, other than they look like a cartoon. They are, essentially, one step closer to giving the game a look that resembles the artwork that Miyamoto and his team draw up. The lighting also looks particularly impressive.
Overall - 9/10
Sound - Nothing amazingly impressive, although the music in the Wind Waker is brilliant. Dungeons sound mysterious, adding to the overall atmosphere of the title. You can also expect to hear those typical Zelda sounds too, as you open chests and pick up keys during the various dungeon segments in the title.
Overall - 8/10
Gameplay - The gameplay to be found in Wind Waker is your typical Zelda fare - explore the overworld, enter dungeons, solve puzzles, defeat boss at the end of dungeon. Superb, and well thought out - but also where Wind Waker disappoints. If you've played a Zelda title before, you'll pretty much find that the puzzles aren't that challenging, as they're mainly rehashes of old puzzles. Some puzzles you're bound to find challenging though.
Overall - 8/10
Lastability - Where Wind Waker is severely let down. There are very few dungeons - just 5, in fact - and they're particularly short. Couple that with the fairly easy bosses, and you can start to see that Wind Waker won't take that long to finish. Even the tedious treasure-hunt they tacked on at the end fails to add that much longevity to the title. Altogether, I'd say it'll take you around 25 hours to finish. Disappointing.
Finally - A superb title, but not what I'd call one of the classics. Although it's filled to the rafters will brilliant gameplay which I find utterly faultless, even if some of the puzzles are a little on the easy side. If you're looking for a fantastic adventure for your Cube, or you're just a complete Zelda fanatic, then I'd strongly advise picking up Wind Waker.
