So, me and my friends were sitting at blockbuster one night looking for something to get, and Onimusha: Blade Warriors caught my eye. I had seen a couple of reviews for it and decide that since we couldn't find anything else worth getting to get it. As I quickly discovered when we got back home this game is very different from all the other games in the Onimusha series. It plays a lot like Super Smash Brothers, only life bars instead of the percentage system. There are a number of different modes. In story mode you select a character and go through a series of battles to work up a character and find items, just like story mode in most games. In Vs. mode you go against other people or the computer with basic characters. In Custom Vs. you use the characters and equipment you have found in story mode and use them. Then of course you have a very useful tutorial that I suggest everyone go through, and options.
As far as gameplay goes, like I said earlier it plays a lot like Super Smash Brothers but with life bars. So the controls have virtually no flaws other than some of the moves are a bit confusing to use.
For difficulty, there are 5 different modes: begginer, easy. normal, hard, and expert. Each mode gets increasingly difficult and for most people the first time through normal mode may be a bit to much to handle.
The story is more or less the other Onimusha games combined: characters, story, and locations. So the story is fairly decent compared to some of the other games out there.
Playablity is much better than the other Onimusha games since you can beat them in about a rental, and this one while you can beat in about 20 min for a single character, to get everyone is going to take a long time.
Overall I say if your a fan of the Onimusha series or you loved Super Smash Brothers and hated the percentage system because you kept taking your friends up to 300% and they still wouldnt die, then I would definately suggest at least giving this game a rental. Also if you are looking for a good true 3D party (2-4 players)fighting game this would also be good for you. In the end I give this game a well deserved 8.
