Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is certainly one of the greatest games of this generation. Just about everything in this game is very polished and rewarding. In the opening hour or so, you'll learn almost all of the Prince's moves via the on-screen message telling you exactly how to get past an obstacle. By the end of the game, you'll be able to balance beam, wall run, wall jump, and control the camera like it's second nature.
Thankfully, the game doesn't use music all the time. It's actually more atmospheric to use just sound effects during all the navigation. And of course, the middle east-inspired rock tracks kick in during combat.
Speaking of combat, most of it is done very well. The Prince moves fluidly and has many useful moves. The only real disadvantage is that sometimes enemies attack you when you are using the dagger of time (when you can't move.) But this does nothing to detract the overall quality.
This game impressed me from beginning to end. Almost every area is different so the platforming always feels fresh and new. The puzzles are delightfully Zelda-ish and don't seem intrusive to all the satisfying navigation. Since the Sands of Time allow you to rewind any mistake you might make, the game never feels overly difficult.
Other than the low replay value and some combat imperfections, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a great game in all departments. I highly recommend it to any video gamer.
