When Star Wars KOTOR first came out for the Xbox a little over a year ago, it was unlike anything I had ever seen before. It boasted supreme voice acting, a unique and interesting story line, and great new orchestrated music. Now, with the release of KOTOR II: The Sith Lords, those aspects of the first game are even better in the sequel. Although Bioware handed the development of this game over to newly founded Obsidian Entertainment, the finished product comes shining through in almost absolute perfection. Sure, the visuals are almost the same as the game's predecessor, but that's hardly a quibble. The fact is that KOTOR II takes what made the first game so great and multiplies it ten-fold. The characters are surprisingly more interesting than the ones in the first, and the story line contains much more depth and a darker atmosphere than the first KOTOR. The most amazing fact, however, is that The Sith Lords just took about a year to create, giving the indication that Obsidian might actually be better story-tellers and RPG-makers than Bioware. Despite its lack of visual improvement, KOTOR II is one of the finest pieces in gaming history that I've ever laid my hands on. I give Star Wars KOTOR II a 9.5 out of 10. Fans of 2003's Game of the Year are sure to be pleased with this game, who may just want to take another role playing adventure in that galaxy far far away.
