One of the most anticipated games on the PS2 and one great racing game. This title offers plenty of cars, awesome graphics, super realistic physics and heaps of depth.

As usual you will begin the game by buying a pretty average car and spending the rest of your cash on getting going as fast as possible. This is done by purchasing various mechanical upgrades such as turbos and exhausts. You will then compete in various different races spending your winnings on further upgrades and later down the track, buying another vehicle. Some races have certain rules, for example, some will require your car to be rear wheel drive, or 4WD, therefore you will need to purchase (or win) a car that can compete in these events.

Also, you may need certain licenses to enter in events and you can require these licenses at the license center, you will need to perform different driving skills to be awarded with licenses. It adds a different element to the game and allows you to learn the finer skills of racing. There is also rally and endurance event which will require different strategies.

The game contains over 150 cars all of which look identical to there real life counterparts. There are 34 different track variations and 19 individual tracks, which isn't heaps but doesn't really have any negative effects on the overall game.

The cars look and wonderful and realistic and so do all of the tracks. The soundtrack has some pretty good tunes, including one particular tune Snoop Dogg made just for this game. The SFX are pretty much straight out of Gran Turismo 2.

The game plays very realistically. This wont appeal to everyone, particularly those who love the arcade style racers, but it does give a very realistic racing experience. You will need to drive with skill and smarts to win many of the races, and making small errors can cost you victory. Despite all the game driving realism it is quite easy to get the hang of, though very difficult to master.

Its will take quite a while to complete the game, and it can get very addictive. This all makes it a game you will be playing for some time to come. As you progress you are awarded with different bonuses which are another reason to keep you playing.

This is certainly a brilliant racing title. But what do you expect? This is Gran Turismo, arguably the king of racers. Great game!

90/100
