Few sequels can match the anticipation generated by Halo 2, it was a long wait, and it was worth it! Halo 2 is built on the awesome foundations set in the original and sprinkled with some mouth watering extras. Boasting amazing visuals, fun and addictive gameplay, great AI, wicked multiplayer options and a host of other amazing goodies, this game is pure gold.
The Covenant has discovered the whereabouts of Earth and has begun invading. The story is great and there are some nice little twists and surprises you will discover throughout the game. The story really adds to the experience and adds to the addiction.
The visuals are beautiful; I often interrupted my gun battles for a quick look at the scenery, a dead Covenant or soldier, or a burning Warthog. Everything about the game looks amazing. The audio is what you would expect; the music changes to suit what's happening on the screen and the SFX are brilliant.
The gameplay really draws you into the game and creates a gaming experience that many titles in the genre can only hope to achieve, fast paced with plenty of emotion with easy to learn controls which offer heaps of addictive fun.
Everything feels a little freer and more fluid than in the original, and a lot of credit should go to the new ability; dual wield weapons. Having an assault rifle in one hand and a needler in the other feels great, looks great, sounds great and mows down Grunts like you have never seen before, its also great in multiplayer, coming up with a good weapon combo for each situation is a nice little challenge.
A great new addition you will experience in story mode, is the mission that will have you playing as a Covenant unit, with out giving too much away, I will just say it's different and heaps of fun. And it really gives a completely different look at the game.
There are some new weapons and vehicles, both human and Covenant types. They are all unique in what they have to offer and great to use. Also, if you position yourself close to an enemy vehicle you can board it; this is also great fun in multiplayer.
The replay value is better than ever, single player mode is fun enough and the multiplayer options will have you coming back for a very long time, its so much fun, there are plenty of maps and different game modes, it really is a huge bonus, whether its co-op, Xbox Live or just a bunch of friends sitting around your Xbox, your going to have some serious multiplayer fun.
The one thing I would change about Halo 2 is the length, it's not a short game it's just so good, you're begging for more once you have finished it, however, legendary mode is very challenging and will take some skill to complete.
Halo 2 has improved on perfection and again sets new standards for the genre. If you don't already have this game, do yourself a favor and get it now, it's just amazing!
