Can we finally crown Hideo Kojima as the best in the biz?
I think we can. This is easily the best experience with a game you will ever have on the PS2. I'm almost willing to go as far as saying Snake Eater is better than the whole GTA series combined. (don't hate me for saying that.)
First off, the graphics. As with any Metal Gear game they are stunning. From the detailed jungle to the animals that live and breathe in it, it is amazing. The cutscenes look great and are total eye candy.
The sound will blow you away. The gun effects are flawlees and the jungle seems alive with the birds screeching and the snakes rustling in the grass, you feel like you are in a real, live jungle. The voice acting is on par with the other Metal Gear games and the story is good.
The gameplay has so many great things about it. The weapons are great, the shotgun is a riot. It's so fun to run in a room full of Soviets and just just blow everyone away. In addition to hunting for food and eating, you actually get injuries and have to cure yourself, which is cool in the beginning ubt does get annoying towards the end. The camera angles are flawed though. It's hard to sneak around when you can't see the enemy with the top-down view they give you. You can go into first person but you can only aim your weapon in it. (gay)
The cutscenes are still long and tiresome but they are based on a real event somewhat, the Cuban Missle Crisis. Who cares, we're used to it aren't we?
