Although at first glance this game seems to be made especially for kids who enjoy all the eastern fighting movies being keen on replaying those cool moves for themselves for a change - this game is still fun for anyone else.
Legend of Kay comes with a distinct asia-flair, not only because of the moves the main character - a teenage-cat named Kay - is able to perform but also because of the lovely design of the world - named Wa-Loo, what ever that means - which, just in case, has been filled with lots of chinese symbols and writings (wonder what those actually mean...).
The overall appearance is very saturated and colorful, maybe a little bit too childish for gamers of my age (24).
However, playing the game is fun at any age, even though the difficulty level could be slightly higher here and there.
One of the main reasons for this game being fun is the combat action. After figuring out how the combo system actually works you'll move around smashing foes quite quickly, as a matter of fact this is my favorite feature with this game. Fighting enemies works so great because the game offers foes as 'quick-step-targets' after you killed the first bad guy. You may 'switch' between them by quickstepping back and forth which doesn't only give you some tactical advantage but also looks very cool. Impressing your friends with massive combat is therefore quite easy - they'll wonder how you do that unless they have tried for themselves.
The story on the other hand has not too much to offer. It fits in the setting but doesn't come with anything you haven't seen or heard elsewhere. Again, this may only be of importance for experienced gamers who acutally HAVE seen and heard almost anything. For those between 12 and 16 of age the story may hold a few thrills, though.
The soundtrack fits in nicely - and so do the voice samples.
