First things first, since I'm writing this after all three of the PS2 GTAs have been released, I'll say that Vice City is my favorite of them all.
"How can this be?" you may ask. "Isn't San Andreas a better game?"
Yes, it is, in all ways, better. But, I just can't get over my love of all things 80s. I love that decade, and the nostalgia that Vice City brings with it just makes me like it that much more than any other GTA game.
Since Vice City is basically GTA3 with few improvements, and its been around for a while, everyone knows what the gameplay entails, and what the basics are about.
Just the ability to run around and see and hear things that satirize the 80s make this game totally worth the price of admission. I know, its not for everyone, but darn if it isn't fun!
The best part of VC, by far, has got to be the soundtrack. Hop into a car and crank the radio. Every station has all those songs you didn't know you knew until you haerd them again. From Flash FM to VROCK to Emotion, its all the best of the 80s, and then some. Even the KCHAT and VCPR are a hoot, playing on the cold-war era weirdness, and all-around silly things that made the 80s so, well... 80s!
Just that I get to relive my favortie decade vicariously through a game makes me all giddy inside.
