When people first heard about Fable, they all wondered what the end result would be. Peter Molyneux promised that Fable would raise the bar for RPGs, and would give you an experience that was like no other. When people finally played Fable, they were a little disappointed with the game. There were such high expectations for the game, so in the end people felt they didn't get what they expected. But I am one of the people that appreciates Fable's greatness. It may not be the best RPG like Peter Molyneux promised, but it is one of the best RPGs out there.

You start off in your village. You are a young boy, and it's your sister's birthday. Your dad go tells you to do a good deed. For each good deed you do, you'll get one gold coin. You will have to make enough money to buy your sister a present. But once you do, your village is attacked. You find that your father has been killed. Out of nowhere a man comes, and saves you from the burning flames taking down your village. He has brought you to a place called the Hero's Guild. There you will be trained to become a hero. Once you are done with your training you can start off on your adventure to seek revenge.

Easily, the biggest part about the game is the freedom to choose your path. You can be a great hero that saves everyone, a villain that kills innocent people, or you can do a little of both. This aspect of the game is found at the very beginning of the game. You don't have to do good deeds to get the cold coins. You can beat up on a kid with a bully and take his money if you want to go down the path of evil. As you go from place to place, you will get different reactions from people depending on how you play the game. If you're a hero, then you'll hear cheering from all the people in the villages. But if you're evil, people will be scared of you and will not want to talk to you. The fighting elements are simple and very good. The game plays in real time. You can choose three different ways of approaching a fight. You can use your melee skills, you can use magic, or you can use your bow and arrow. A problem with the game is that it is pretty short. This can be a problem, but you can try different ways of approaching the game by playing through it both good one time through and then evil the next time. The way you play throughout the game is by going back to the Hero's Guild and taking different quests. Completing these quests will make you more popular, it will get you respects, and money. As you gain experience, you can increase strength, learn new abilities, and learn new magic.

The graphics in this game are beautiful. The best part of the graphics is the change of your appearance in the game. As you age, your hair will turn gray. You can get different haircuts. You can get tattoos, and you can wear different armor. Also, as you play through the game, the environments look great. First of all, the time of day during the game will change from morning to night. The different areas are gorgeous. There are dense and dark forests, open ended fields, and lively villages. Also, the fighting animations are great. Everything looks real end epic.

The music fits right in with the game. The music isn't up-tempo, which is very appropriate towards the game. There will be soft toons as you travel throughout the various environments. Also, the voice acting in this game is great. Basically all of it is British, but it still sounds good. The sound in this game is excellent, and is one of the strongest aspects of the game.

Everyone might not think that Fable is one of the best RPGs ever, but I do. It mixes great gameplay, unique elements such as the good/bad path thing, amazing graphics, and excellent music and voice-overs. This is one of the most anticipated games ever, and it was worth the wait. It mixes in so many good things, that it can't be overlooked. It is a must own for any RPG fan that owns an XBOX.
