Gameplay: 10
Put disc in, close lid, press START button, dim or turn off lights, and get crazy. The new idea of hybriding First Person and Adventure is a brilliant one. If you have played plenty FPS games, then it will take a little bit to adapt to the controls. After you get the feel of the controls, it will feel perfectly fit.
The freedom and feel of the game is perfect, as well. Metroid Prime spleunks you in to a vast, beautiful world with tons of open space and a greatly great plot waitin to be discovered.
The battle sequences are the best ones you can find in any game. Many weapons can be simultaniously used against foes. The lock-on system is the best battle idea I have experienced.
After beating Metroid Prime, there are plenty options to do. Do hard mode, get all items, get all scans, go for a low time, and try to get the least amount of items, beating the game, and mix n' mingle with above options. For techniques and links to time world records, check out metroid2002.com
Graphics: 12
The graphics will blow you away. Every little micropixel is detailed into a vast, open, and BEAUTIFUL land. Tallon IV is defenitly the best things I have ever seen, greatly surpassing Half-Life 2 or Doom 3.
As you go on in the game, you will find new graphical advances that will amaze you.
Sound: 10
w00ts. All the sounds in the game fit perfectionally well with the looks. The orchestral/techno music is the best thing I have heard... EVER. Be finding yourself getting MP3's for the score.
Difficulty: Hard ---> Easy/Medium
As mentioned about, the control system is unique compared to other FP's. B to jump, A to shoot (hold to charge), Y is missles, X switches you into a Morph Ball, Z calls in and out the map, C stick changes weapons, D Pad changes visors, hold R to look around, and L to lock on a target. Battles can be hard to some, but will be mastered. The puzzles with get you the first run through the game. After playing the game for a little while, the hard difficulty will change to medium, then to easy/medium.
Overall: 10
All reasons not getting this game is stupid. If needed, sell your Xbox and/or PS2 to learn what the word Perfect means.
