Definately not "The Best Game Ever", but still pretty good.
Gameplay:8/10
The gameplay in Half Life 2 is that of a standard first person shooter. Run n' Gun action with a few little puzzles here and there. Definately not what it is cracked up to be. Normally, I'd rate it a mere 5/10, but the Havoc physics and the gravity gun save it from such a low score.
Campaign: 8/10
Half Life 2 offers a great single player campaign. The level design is outstanding. The voice acting is also great. The story is... ok. It dosnt explain much and im sure will leave many newcomers to the Half Life series confused. Another problem is that some of the levels drag on for too long. Speciffically the ones with the vehicles. They're fun to drive at first but get boring pretty fast.
Counter Strike: Scource: 9/10
Counter Strike is one of the best online shooters ever. It's tremendously addictive. And when I say that I mean it. I've met grown men on Counter Strike who live with their mothers, have no jobs, and play the game all day. It's not a pretty picture, but it shows you how fun the game really is. But here's the problem. Counter Strike and Counter Strike: Scource are the same game! Aside from the pretty graphics, nothing has changed. I mean, Valve was only working on the game for Five years. They could've at least updated the multiplayer.
Graphics:10/10
This is where the game really shines. It is one of the best looking games on the market. The new engine creates some of the most realistic indoor and outdoor enviroments ever witnessed. It also creates the best facial animations ever. Yes, the rest of the game is good, but the graphics are the standout feature in Half Life 2.
Artificial Intelligence: 7/10
The AI in Half Life 2 is the biggest dissapointment in the game. Specifically your teammates' AI. It is horrible. They provide no help and are constantly getting in your way. They are walking medpacs. That is all. The enemy AI is decent. They are smart and provide a challenge, but are in no way on par with Halo 2's AI.
